Introduction to Engineering and Industrial Seminar & Profession Meeting
Day 031. 8 head is better than 1
Early morning I drove to the office heading for this Introduction to Engineering (ITE) and Industrial Seminar and Profession (ISP) meeting that was held at Human Resource Meeting Room, Block N01, Chemical & Energy Engineering Faculty.
It was a meeting to discuss the marking of Project Report Stage 3 and also the student’s Learning Portfolio. Besides that, we did discuss other minor but important issues as well. For Project Report Stage 3, each report will be graded by 2 lecturers, and for Learning Portfolio (LP), each student’s LP will be graded by 2 lecturers as well.
Introduction to Engineering course is a foundational course offered at Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) in Malaysia, aimed at providing students with a broad overview of the various engineering disciplines.
The course which is a 3-credit is taken in the first semester of an engineering program and covers topics such as the scope of engineering, problem-solving skills, solving real-world problems, engineering design and innovation, and ethics in engineering.
The course is designed to help students develop a strong understanding of the engineering profession and to prepare them for future engineering studies. It may also include hands-on activities and projects to help students apply the concepts they have learned.
The meeting lasted for 1 and a half hours. We had a fruitful discussion and we have agreed to set 15 February as the deadline for all Stage 3 reports and LP to be completed. Marks will be added to the agreed template and we shall have another meeting to evaluate and discuss whatever is necessary.
As the course coordinator for the ITE course, I am glad to have very cooperative lecturers working together. This is the kind of environment that we want to be in when working at a university. Anyway, this is the first time I am in charge as the coordinator for the ITE course.
I’m glad to be on this team, since 2008. I also have received numerous achievements throughout the years with this team.
Bravo!
