Checking My Student’s Paper Draft
Day 090. When the passion is there, the writing part becomes smooth
It was another glorious weekend and I can shamefully admit that I was not as productive as I should be (same case as I shared before). Many will say, hey… It’s ok to take a break during your weekend holiday, but that’s not the case for me. But I’ll just enjoy the temporary relaxation mode while I can.
For the past 2 months, I have not been super active and productive. I know the reason why, but I prefer not to reveal it here. It has something to do with some work politics that I am entangled within. I just need to be mentally strong and remain positive.
I decided in the late evening that I need to do at least 2 or 3 things to reduce my load for tomorrow. I don’t want to accumulate mountains of official tasks and responsibilities. Hence I checked one of my student’s paper drafts that are in the area of Engineering Education.
A simple draft, easy to read, and I provided several key points for improvement. It’s not easy for engineering students to write scholarly engineering education papers, but I’m proud that my student is accepting the challenge and I can see he is doing his best.
I hope and pray that the paper outcome will be an amazing scholarly paper that will also complement my other engineering education research niche — Engineering Identity Development.

Other official tasks performed today:
- Following up and keeping in touch with my Master Energy students regarding their assignments.
- Communicating with future post-doctoral that will be under my supervision, hopefully.
- Glance, and flip through the Ph.D. thesis that I will be evaluating officially for the first time.
